Personalized Instruction, Empowering Growth

SAGE Learning provides tutoring and learning support for children, adolescents, and young adults in reading, writing, math, executive functioning and study skills, and standardized test preparation.

Our approach emphasizes thoughtful matching, personalized instruction, and collaborative support so that each student is connected with a tutor whose experience and approach fit their individual learning needs.

Areas of Support

Reading

Support for students with dyslexia and other reading challenges, including structured literacy and Orton-Gillingham-based instruction when appropriate. Tutoring may focus on decoding, spelling, fluency, comprehension, and helping older students apply reading strategies and assistive technology as academic demands increase.

Writing

Individualized support with the many skills involved in written expression, including idea development, organization, sentence and paragraph construction, essay writing, editing, and managing the executive functioning demands of larger assignments.

Math

Targeted support for students who need help strengthening underlying concepts, building specific skills, increasing confidence, or managing increasingly complex coursework.

Executive Functioning & Study Skills

Practical support for planning, organization, time management, task initiation, studying, managing long-term assignments, and developing greater independence as a learner.

Standardized Test Preparation

Individualized preparation for tests including the ISEE, SSAT, SAT, and ACT, with attention to both content and effective test-taking strategies.

Our Approach

Every student brings a different combination of strengths, challenges, goals, and experiences to learning. SAGE Learning is designed to provide support that is thoughtful, flexible, and connected to the people who know the student best.

  • Thoughtful Matching. We take the time to understand a student’s needs and connect families with a tutor whose experience and expertise are a strong fit.
  • Collaborative Support. Tutors partner closely with families and, when helpful, coordinate with teachers, other professionals, and other SAGE Learning providers involved in the student’s support.
  • Active Student Participation. Students are encouraged to understand what works for them, practice new strategies, and gradually take greater ownership of their learning.
  • Flexible, Responsive Support. Growth is not always linear. Goals and approaches can be adjusted over time as a student’s needs change and we learn more about what is most helpful.

Connected to SAGE Neuropsych

From Understanding to Support

For students who have completed an evaluation at SAGE Neuropsych, families may choose to have the neuropsychologist communicate directly with the SAGE Learning tutor.

This handoff allows the tutor to begin with a fuller understanding of the student’s learning profile, including how factors such as attention, executive functioning, memory, anxiety, and individual strengths may affect learning and instruction.

Students do not need to have been evaluated at SAGE Neuropsych to participate in SAGE Learning.

Meet Jamie Wallace, Director of SAGE Learning

Jamie Wallace brings more than two decades of experience in education and a deep commitment to helping students understand themselves as learners, build on their strengths, and navigate challenges with confidence. She has extensive experience supporting students with learning differences, partnering with families, and collaborating with teachers and outside professionals to develop thoughtful, individualized supports.

Jamie has spent many years at Buckingham Browne & Nichols School as a Learning Specialist, Advisor, and Grade Dean, giving her a broad perspective on the academic, executive functioning, and social-emotional factors that shape a student’s experience at school.

As Director of SAGE Learning, Jamie helps families identify the support their child needs, thoughtfully matches students with members of the SAGE Learning team, and supports collaboration among tutors, families, teachers, and other professionals.

Getting Started

If you are interested in tutoring or learning support, please contact Jamie to tell us a little about your student and the type of support you are looking for. She will help determine whether a member of the SAGE Learning team may be a good fit and guide you through next steps.

Our goal is to make the process easier for families by helping clarify needs, identify the right support, and coordinate the next steps.
